The activities of the iLimaLethu Trust are governed by an independent Board of Trustees, comprising representation from Private Sector, as well as Government.
The Board of Trustees meets quarterly to review the Trust’s progress and to ensure adherence to its objectives.

David April, registered psychologist, is a seasoned professional in the Care & Growth leadership thematic having consulted to organisations over 20 years across industries particularly Mining, Manufacturing, FMCG, Call Centres and Governmental as well as delivering bespoke Coaching and Coaching Supervision services. He is committed to people realising their best.
Mervyn Burton, is a Chartered Accountant with extensive General Management and Financial Management experience in various industries including FMCG, Retail, Logistics, Financial Services among other. Mervyn decided to leave the corporate world at the end of August 2011 in order to focus on his own consulting business. His fields of expertise are General Management, Business Turnaround Management, Financial Management, Corporate Governance, Accounting, Taxation, Risk management and other related financial skills. He holds various non-executive director positions and audit committee member positions both in the private and public sectors
Ismail Chafeker, BSc, has extensive experience in information technology (ICT) management, business process design, project management and strategy development having spent 26 years in the Financial Services sector and 8 years in the Public and SMME sectors.
Solly Fazel-Ellahi has a B Compt Honours degree and an MBA and has worked in the corporate sector for over 20 years in the roles of Finance, Operations and Admin Manager prior to starting his own business. Over the past 15 years as a business analyst and enterprise development consultant, he has assisted a range of small businesses in various sectors of the Western Cape Economy with a range of services, including: Business Plans, Expansion/Turnaround Strategy, Marketing Plans, Accounting & Financial Management (including installation & training of QuickBooks), Company Diagnostics (Health Checks), Due Diligence, Mentorship, Costing & Financial Management Workshops.
Francois Haasbroek, B.Com, B.Proc, has extensive experience in the Property Industry. As Corporate Real Estate Manager he was responsible for the management of 421 leased premises with an annual expense budget of approximately R310m. His experience lies in space management, lease management, financial management and facilities management. He has also worked in Africa (Namibia, Swaziland and Ghana) where his responsibility was to source premises and to set up the offices for his client. At the end of 2014 he retired from Corporate life, after 37 years’ service.
Paul Hoffman, M.Com Marketing Management, has extensive experience in business and marketing strategies, export development, enterprise development and other disciplines, having spent 29 years working across sectors, including corporate organisations, managing his own business and an academic background as lecturer.
Mohamed (Mo) Kajee is a Chartered Accountant with over 35 years business experience in Corporate, mergers and acquisitions, deal structuring and risk management.
Heidi, a qualified chartered accountant, has spent 20 years in the corporate world after completing her articles of clerkship at Deloitte. She spent many years establishing and leading finance departments predominantly within the financial services sector. Her passion for “making a difference” took her into Business Development and Procurement where her skills were used to develop and implement Procurement strategies to aggregate purchasing power across Old Mutual and its subsidiaries, making significant contribution to the bottom line. Her deep understanding of Black Economic Empowerment legislation as it pertains to procurement and supplier development has been fundamental to the success of many SMME and EME suppliers.
Basetsana Magano, has 30 years managing team of that 20 years was in Senior/executive position. She has worked in different industries i.e. Financial Services, ICT, Aviation and FMCG. Her qualifications include Masters in Business Administration, BBA, and Advance Diploma in Labour Law, Senior Leadership Programme and Coaching..
I hold a bachelors’ degree in Social Sciences from UFH, majoring in Industrial Psychology and Sociology, a certificate in Project Management. I have 15 years of project management experience in the public sector.
Owen Mlotshwa, ACIS, has extensive experience in Company Secretarial practice, accounting, taxation consulting and training/facilitation and mentoring on various accounting software systems in the manufacturing and retail industries and in financial services for the past 25 years.
Dan Mogami, BA Hons, MBA. Extensive experience in Business Management & SME Development including: retail and wholesale and fast food agro industry: open and dry land crop farming, large and small livestock including poultry.
Gareth Pike, CA (SA), has extensive experience in financial management, governance and senior management having spent 28 years in the Financial Services sector and 8 years in the Public and SMME sectors.
Diane, degree in Industrial Psychology, is a creative and strategic facilitator, passionate about social responsibility and enterprise development who weaves her 38 years of business experience into her consulting and mentoring engagements.
Anthony Ryan, MA, MPhil, BEd(Hons) PDM has a background in education, then spent 19 years in management positions in the Financial Services sector before moving into the public/SMME and consulting sectors. His areas of expertise are strategy formulation and implementation, change management, coaching and general HR practice
Willem Schutte, had 34 years of service with Old Mutual. Through this time he gained experience in a number of diverse businesses as operational manger focusing on business & process design. He was also involved in major systems upgrades and implementations. His forte is people coaching and development.
Mdu Thabethe, CAIB(SA), AMP, MBA. Has over 20 years of business experience. Worked for 16 years in the banking sector specialising in business financing and turnaround strategies. For the last 5 years he has operated his own business mentorship and consulting enterprise.
Simphiwe has a Masters degree in Town and regional Planning and various management qualifications from Stellenbosch School of Business amongst others. He has over 20 years’ experience in public service, 12 of which were in senior Management in Local Government.
Ansie van Wyk, BA Hons, was the Manager for Leadership Development in the Old Mutual Business School before joining ilimaLethu Trust. She consulted with individual business units to determine their learning needs; researched local and international learning trends in leadership development; designed and developed learning solutions; and facilitated workshops.
John Wallace, B Proc, LLB, after practising law as an attorney, spent 26 years at Old Mutual, mostly in Distribution management positions. Currently serves on the Prudential Portfolio Managers (South Africa) Life Company and Unit Trust Company boards
